Nathan Roach enters his second season on the Muskingum football staff as the defensive coordinator and linebacker coach.

Before arriving at Muskingum, Roach spent five years at Division III Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. The last three years, Roach served as the linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator where his duties involved coaching inside and outside linebackers, leading position meetings, kickoff team, and field goal special teams units, managing and organizing all aspect of recruiting efforts and coordinating video operations. In addition, Roach was the running backs and tight ends coach. He was responsible for assisting with game planning, coaching the kickoff return team, and converting and uploading all opponent scout films.

Prior to Wartburg, he was a graduate assistant at Division II powerhouse Northwest Missouri State University from 2010-2012 where he worked primarily with wide receivers, running backs, and tight ends. His duties included planning and coordinating drill work in practice, assisting in coaching the kickoff return team, preparing scouting reports, and film breakdown. As a player at Northwest Missouri State, he played tight end from 2008-2009, while he redshirted during the 2007 season. During his six years as a player and coach, he was part of four Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Conference championship teams and six playoff teams, including a national championship squad in 2009. 

Roach graduated from Northwest Missouri State in 2012 with a B.S. in social science education and earned his Masters of Science in health and physical education.
