Five Muskies Earn All-OAC Football Honors

The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced that five Muskingum football student-athletes have earned All-OAC honors for their outstanding play during the 2021 season. Senior quarterback Jordan Garrett, senior defensive back Cortez McGinnis, and sophomore punter Collin Scozzafava were named to the All-OAC Second Team, while senior defensive back Brian Brown and junior wide receiver Zuri Edmondson earned All-OAC Honorable Mention accolades.

Garrett, a captain for the Muskies this season, was selected as the OAC Offensive Player of the Week three times throughout his record-breaking season. Garrett started all 10 games under center for Muskingum this year and set school records in passing yards (2,323), passing touchdowns (20), passing attempts (333), passing completions (194), touchdowns in a game (7), and total offense (2,429 yards). Garrett also set numerous single-game records, including total offense in a game (492), passing completions in a game (41), and passing attempts in a game (58).

McGinnis was recognized on the national level this year when he was selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his standout effort in the Muskies' week one win against Waynesburg. This season, McGinnis, who represented the team as a captain, totaled 50 tackles, two interceptions, 2.5 tackles for a loss, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Scozzafava was also recognized this season by being named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after he booted a career-best 70-yard punt in Muskingum's week five matchup at John Carroll. This season, Scozzafava attempted 42 punts for 1,721 yards. He averaged 41 yards per boot, and 13 of his punts landed inside the 20 yard-line.

Brown, a Muskie captain, continued his lockdown play in Muskingum's secondary this season. On the year, Brown totaled 64 tackles, two forced fumbles, one interception, and one fumble recovery. Brown also tapped into the Muskingum record books by reaching sixth-place in program history with 14 career interceptions.

Edmondson, who also received a D3football.com Team of the Week nod for his record-setting performance in Muskingum's week 10 win at Capital, was a standout receiver for the Muskies all season. Edmondson set the school record for receiving yards in a game with 266, the school record for receptions in a game with 17, and he also tied the school record for touchdown receptions in a game with three. On the season, Edmondson made 54 receptions for 824 yards and seven touchdowns. Edmondson's 824 receiving yards rank second in program history for a single season. Edmondson also averaged 15.3 yards-per-reception this year.
