Football falls at 4th-ranked Mount Union

The Muskingum football team fell at fourth-ranked Mount Union on Saturday afternoon, 73-7.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (4-5 overall, 3-5 OAC), Mount Union (9-0 overall, 8-0 OAC)

Muskingum Notes

  • Muskingum's lone scoring drive came at the 5:01 mark of the first quarter. The Muskies orchestrated a 12-play, 75-yard drive that culminated in sophomore tight end Gannon Unger scoring on a two-yard run. Unger ended the game with 29 yards rushing.
  • Senior quarterback Jordan Garrett went 11-of-26 for 101 yards and two interceptions to guide the offense.
  • Sophomore receiver Travis Roberson had four receptions for 51 yards.
  • Junior receiver Zuri Edmondson and Unger each grabbed three receptions. 
  • Freshman linebacker Lucas Wagner led the defensive effort with nine stops.
  • Sophomore defensive back Cedric Thomas added hits.

Mount Union Notes

  • The Purple Raiders raced out to a 21-7 after the first quarter to seize the momentum.
  • Deandre Parker and Josh Petruccelli combined for seven rushing touchdowns to pace Mount Union.
