Football celebrates Senior Day against Heidelberg

The Muskingum football team hosted Ohio Athletic Conference foe Heidelberg on Saturday for Senior Day. The Student Princes handed the Muskies a 49-14 setback.

  • Montavious Yearby rushed for a game-high 126 yards and two scores on 17 rushes.
  • Brandon Reed, Maceo Matthews, and Glenn Pearson all had one receiving touchdown.
  • Parker Smith had eight stops to lead the Heidelberg defense.
  • Isaiah Kammer had seven tackles and 2.5 sacks.

How it Happened

  • Heidelberg scored a pair of first-quarter touchdowns to take an early 14-0 lead.
  • Muskingum capped off a 12-play, 82-yard drive early in the second quarter that culminated with Garrett hitting Edmondson for a six-yard score.
  • Heidelberg answered the Muskie score on the following kickoff when Brandon Reed returned the kick 95 yards for a touchdown.
  • Heidelberg added another score on a 14-yard pass from Sims to Matthews to extend its lead to 28-7.
  • Muskingum orchestrated its final scoring drive late in the second quarter on an 11-play, 75-yard drive that ended with Garrett finding Edmondson for an eight-yard score.
  • Heidelberg took a 35-14 lead into the break on a touchdown in the waning seconds of the half.
