Esports kicks off first day of competition

The Muskingum esports team kicked off their inaugural season on Saturday morning with a history-making victory over Defiance in Rocket League and then losing to Ohio Northern in Overwatch and League of Legends.

The Basics

  • The Muskies went 1-2 on the day, with a first-ever win against Defiance in Rocket League.
  • GLEC play began for all three teams that competed.

The Breakdown

Rocket League

  • The Muskies Rocket League team picked up the first-ever competition victory in program history defeating Defiance in a clean sweep, 3-0.
  • First-ever GLEC win for the Muskies.
  • The competition was a best of five-game series.
  • Game 1 - 5-1
  • Game 2 - 3-1
  • Game 3 - 6-0

Overwatch

  • The Overwatch squad for the Muskies lost in straight games to Ohio Northern, 2-0.
  • The competition was the best of three-game series.
  • Game 1 was played at the Lijiang Tower map in Control gameplay where teams try to capture areas on the map and hold them. Ohio Northern won the first two games to receive the point.
  • Game 2 was played at the Kings Row map in Hybrid gameplay where it is the combination of the Assault and Escort gameplays. Ohio Northern once again won the first games and received the game-winning point to win the competition, 2-0.

League of Legends

  • The Muskies League of Legends squad fell to the Ohio Northern squad in straight matches losing the final competition of the day, 2-0.
  • Both matches lasted at least 40 minutes in length.
  • The competition was the best three-game series.
