Ryan and Gorence named All-OAC for baseball

The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced that senior Devin Ryan was named First Team All-OAC, while junior Dominic Gorence picked up Honorable Mention accolades for their standout efforts in the 2022 season.

This year, Ryan posted a .385 batting average, and also tallied career-highs in multiple statistical categories, including hits (62), runs scored (49), RBI (33), walks (21), stolen bases (13), home runs (8), and a .627 slugging percentage. He also tied his career-high with 15 doubles on the season. Ryan's standout offensive year was highlighted by a 4-for-4 effort against OAC-foe John Carroll. Ryan tallied two home runs, five RBI, one walk, and one stolen base in the Muskie's 12-8 win over the Blue Streaks. Defensively, Ryan was a mainstay behind the plate for Muskingum all season. In 38 games, he recorded a .959 fielding percentage and only allowed five passed balls on the campaign. This honor marks the second straight year Ryan has received All-OAC accolades after being named to the second team a season ago.

Gorence also enjoyed numerous career-highs this season, including hits (49), RBI (30), runs scored (30), walks (21), doubles (12), stolen bases (7), a .363 batting average, and a .496 slugging percentage. Both of Gorence's home runs this season came in the same game, against Marietta, who was ranked #1 nationally at the time. In the field, Gorence posted a .974 fielding percentage. Playing second base for the majority of the year, he also registered 99 putouts and 91 assists which are both career-highs. This is the first All-OAC honor of Gorence's career.
