Baseball celebrates an emotional Senior Day at Denison

The Muskingum baseball team celebrated Senior Day at 19th-ranked Denison on Saturday in an emotional final day of the shortened season. The Big Red won the five-inning weather impacted game, 8-1. Game two of the scheduled twinbill was cancelled due to weather.

Notables

  • Before the start of the game, Muskingum baseball seniors Holden Martin, Bryce Husted, Josh Bigrigg, and Mark Rest were recognized. The contest marked the final baseball outing of the year following the Ohio Athletic Conference announcement on Thursday by the Presidents Council to cancel the 2020 spring sports seasons effective March 16 to protect the health and safety of all of our students and communities.

  • Martin started on the mound for the Muskies and pitched the first two innings and recorded three strikeouts. 
  • Bigrigg tossed two relief innings and held the Big Red to one hit and registered one strikeout.

  • Muskie sophomore infielder Chayce Lundell belted an RBI double to give the Muskies an early 1-0 edge in the top of the first.

  • Denison ended the game with eight runs on seven hits and committed one error on the day.
