Archery receives 6K grant from USA Archery

The Muskingum archery program was recently awarded a $6,000 Collegiate Archery Program grant from USA Archery.

The grant will allow Muskingum to expand its equipment and resources available to Muskie student-athletes and add five American Whitetail Target Mats and five ExoStands.

"We are very excited to have received this equipment start-up grant from USA Archery. The grant will provide us with up to $6,000 of equipment to further facilitate the growth of archery at Muskingum," said Muskingum Head Coach Craig Holycross. "The grant will help our student-athletes to further develop the fundamental skills needed to compete for individual and national team championships. Our students will be able to train at high levels with quality equipment while also earning their degrees. This grant will also help tremendously with the recruitment of high school archers who are looking for a university to attend, while still competing in archery at the national level competitively."

Muskingum's archery facilities include an outdoor range and 3D range at nearby Moorehead Farm and an indoor range on campus at John Glenn Gymnasium.

Muskingum is the only school in the Ohio Athletic Conference to field an archery team and one of the only NCAA schools in the state to offer archery as a varsity sport. Archery, which involves teams representing their institutions at USA Archery sanctioned events, offers recreational and competitive opportunities for barebow, recurve, compound, and bowhunter divisions.
