Johnson and Clark honored with the Ann White and Roy "Red" Turner Strive for Excellence Awards

Senior football running back Bernard Johnson and senior women's basketball guard Celeste Clark were honored with the Roy "Red" Turner and Ann White Strive for Excellence Award honorees.

Johnson, a key component to the Muskingum offense, suffered a knee injury in the middle of the season that forced him to sit out three of the four remaining games on the year. Prior to the injury, Johnson helped guide the Muskies to two victories, one of which was their 11th consecutive win against Wilmington. Johnson ended his shortened season with 405 yards on 80 carries, rushing for three touchdowns, and securing 107 receiving yards on 11 catches. Johnson was named the OAC Offensive Player of the Week and the D3football.com Team of the Week for his outstanding play against the Quakers.

After playing for the Muskies for her first three seasons, Clark decided it was best to transition into a student assistant role prior to the start of the 2019-20 campaign. However, after the team suffered a large number of injuries and illnesses, Clark approached the coaching staff and asked to return to the team as a student-athlete. She officially suited up on February 1, becoming the team's spark plug and motivator. In her seven-game season, Clark registered two starts, playing a total of 132 minutes. She grabbed 35 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 34.3% from the field.
