The Muskingum women's cross country team opened the 2014 season with a first-place finish in the Muskingum Relay Meet.
Sophomore Julie Fobes and senior Jami Durkee teamed to finish first with a course record time of 33:25.
Senior Claire Lieburn and sophomore Josie Baum placed second with a time of 36:13.
Placing third was senior Allison Reed and sophomore Hannah Gregory with a time of 36:52.
Also coming in with a close fourth-place finish was freshman Taylar Bennett and junior Caroline Nagy with a combined time of 36:59.
The Muskies tallied six points, which beat Bethany College (15 points). Each competitor ended the event running a total of three miles.
Muskingum next competes at the Bethany Invitational on Saturday, September 13.
