Volleyball announces its 2020 schedule

The Muskingum volleyball team has announced its 2020 fall schedule.

The Muskies will kick off their fall campaign with a home match against St. Vincent on Tuesday, September 1. The game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.

Muskingum competes at its first tournament at Mount Union on Friday, September 4, through Saturday, September 5. The event will be held in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

Muskingum will play a total of eight home and six away matches, while also attending three tournaments.

The Muskies begin Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday, September 26, in a showdown against last year's co-champion Ohio Northern. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m. Muskingum also hosts Heidelberg, Juniata, and Wittenberg in a quad-match from Friday, October 9 through Saturday, October 10. The Muskies will battle the Student Princes on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and face Juniata (11:00 a.m.) and Wittenberg (3:00 p.m.) on Saturday.

Notable home games include:

  • All home games will be played in the Anne C. Steele Center.
  • The Muskies host St. Vincent on Tuesday, September 1, for their home opener.
  • Muskingum hosts Heidelberg, Juniata, and Wittenberg in a quad-match from Friday, October 9, through Saturday, October 10.
  • The Muskies host Wilmington on Tuesday, October 27, for Senior Night. The start time is set for 7:00 p.m.

Notable away games include:

  • The Muskies travel to three tournaments. These tournaments include Mount Union (Friday, September 4, through Saturday, September 5), Washington and Lee (Friday, September 11, through Saturday, September 12), and the Hope (Friday, September 18, through Saturday, September 19).
  • Muskingum also travels to Otterbein to battle the Cardinals on Saturday, October 17, in the Rike Center. The start time is set for 1:00 p.m.

Last Season

Muskingum finished the season 27-4 overall with an 8-1 slate in the OAC. The Muskies secured their best campaign since 1999, a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular-Season Championship for the first time since 1999, and their 10th appearance in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament. The Muskies also clinched the team's first NCAA Tournament triumph since 1999. Muskingum appeared in the AVCA Top 25 Poll a total of ten times, ranking as high as 11th.

The Muskies surrendered just 25 sets, claimed 18 straight-set victories, and recorded a 13-game winning streak. As a team, Muskingum logged 1,524 kills, 1,390 assists, 2,112 digs, 161 service aces, and 188 total blocks. The Muskies ranked ninth in the NCAA Division III in kills per set with 13.73.
