#WinsDay celebrating Muskingum's big wins throughout the 2019-20 year

#WinsDay features the Muskingum volleyball team's historic win against Heidelberg on Saturday, November 2. The Muskies claimed a thrilling a five-set triumph over the Student Princes in the Seiberling Gymnasium, 3-2 (22-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 17-15) to capture a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season championship.

Muskingum fell in the first (25-22) and second (25-23) sets, won in the third (25-18) and fourth (25-19) sets, and prevailed in the fifth set (17-15) en route its first OAC title since 1999. As a team, Muskingum tallied 68 kills, 65 assists, and 101 digs. 

Junior captain Brooke Fatheree and junior Brynn Guist paved the way for the Muskies with 16 kills each. Junior Kaitlin Noble chipped in 14 kills on 35 attempts, locking in a .343 hitting percentage. Fatheree also notched 16 digs and chipped in three total blocks. 

Junior captain Jessica Cottle anchored the Muskie defense with a team-high 33 digs. Junior captain Erin Dickson directed the Muskies with a team-best 52 assists. Dickson also notched five kills, a .400 hitting percentage, and 14 digs. 

Notables 

  • With this victory, the Muskies finished the regular season 25-2 overall record with an 8-1 slate in the OAC.
  • Muskingum won a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season Title for the first time since 1999 and advanced to the OAC Tournament for the fifth year in a row.
  • Muskingum logged its best start since to a season since 1999.  
  • Muskingum was ranked in the AVCA Top 25 Poll a total of 10 times, ranking as high as 11th. 
  • The Muskies also hosted a first round and second round OAC Tournament games, where they battled seven-seed Marietta and third-seed Otterbein.

  • The Muskies open up their 2020 season at the University of Mount Union Tournament. The tournament begins on Friday, September 4, and goes through Saturday, September 5.
