Women's Volleyball - This Week

The Muskingum volleyball team now stands 9-2 overall after going 3-1 this weekend at the DePauw Invitational. This week the Muskies have their first home game on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7:00 p.m. against Pitt.-Greensburg. Then on Friday Sept. 21 and Saturday Sept. 22, the Muskies take on Bluffton, Mary Washington, Kean, and Elizabethtown at the Carnegie Mellon DoubleTree Invitational.

This weekend the Muskies were led by sophomore Bryn Guist who registered a team-best 46 kills. Sophomore Brooke Fatheree logged 45 kills and added 44 digs. Freshman Carson Miller secured 30 kills in 14 sets played. The offensive efforts were led by sophomore Erin Dickson who registered a team-best 150 assists, averaging 10.7 assists per set. The backline was anchored by sophomore Jessica Cottle who logged a team-high 67 digs. Senior Jordan Youngs added 64 digs, while sophomore Maddie Sikorski added 39. As a team the Muskies secured 186 kills, 174 assists, and 265 digs this weekend. Overall, the Muskies have registered 513 kills, 467 assists, and 723 digs on the season.

The Muskies next take on Pitt.-Greensburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18 for their first home match of the season. Pitt.-Greensburg is 0-11 overall after their showing at the Shenandoah University quad-match where they fell short to Shenandoah (0-3), Wilson College (0-3), and Marywood University (0-3). The Bobcats are led by freshman Alexis Ray who has 55 kills on the year. Freshman Brittany Eyler has 34 kills, while sophomore Sabre Turner has 23. The offensive efforts are led by junior Emma Dongilli who has 106 assists on the season, averaging 5.15 assists per set. The defense is led by junior Kassi Niver who has 86 digs. Sophomore Marissa Leonard, Dongilli, and Ray all have over 40 digs this season. As a team the Bobcats have 168 kills, 163 assists, and 334 digs on the year.

Then the Muskies travel to the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Friday Sept. 21 where they take on the Bluffton at 4:00 p.m. The Bluffton Dogs stand 6-5 on the year after playing in the Muhlenberg Quad where they beat Muhlenberg (3-2), Cortland (3-0), and Franklin & Marshall (3-1). The Dogs are led by senior Sarah Jurgens who has 130 kills, senior Lauren Mueller who has 98, and junior Erika Foose who has 86. The attack is led by junior Maia So-Holloway who has 379 assists on the year, averaging 9.24 assists per set. Their backline is held down by junior Kayla Yew who has 216 digs, senior Lauren Mueller who has 108 digs, and So-Holloway who has 94 digs. As a team, the Dogs have 482 kills, 438 assists, and 658 digs on the season.

Also on Friday, the Muskies take on Mary Washington at 8:00 p.m. Mary Washington is 7-4 after beating Ithaca (3-2) and falling short to Thomas More (3-0), Hope (3-2), and Ohio Northern (3-0) this past weekend. The Eagles are led by junior Peyton Dunow who has a team-best 102 kills, averaging 2.43 kills per set. Senior Leslie Walters adds 101 kills and 103 digs on the season. Junior Savannah Powers and freshman Alana Harris both have over 70 kills this year. The attack is led by junior Kendall Hall who has 204 assists and sophomore Wren Berry who has 177. The defensive efforts are controlled by senior Ryan Cho who has logged over 200 digs this year. As a team, the Eagles have 485 kills, 455 assists, and 705 digs this year.

Then on Saturday, September 22 at 11:00 a.m. the Muskies take on Kean. The Kean Cougars now stand 8-3 overall after beating New England College (3-0) and St. Joseph's College- L.I. (3-0) on Saturday. Kean is led by senior Vikki Stec who has 103 kills and senior Brett Harper who has 102 kills for the year. Junior Brianna Calvano leads the team in assists with 292, averaging 9.73 assists per set. Junior Kortnee Nelso has a team-best 122 digs for the year. Sophomore Sarah Sample, Harper, and Stec all have over 70 digs on the season. As a team, the Cougars have logged 478 kills, 454 assists, and 561 digs on the season.

Also on Saturday, the Muskies take on Elizabethtown at 3:00 p.m. The Elizabethtown Blue Jays have an overall record of 7-6 after beating Eastern Mennonite (3-1), Alfred (3-0), and Rowan (3-0) this past weekend. The Blue Jays are led by senior Mackenzie Garner who has 137 kills on the season, with a hitting percentage of .367. Sophomore Marisa Krinock and senior Sarah Schneider both have over 90 kills. The offensive efforts are led by freshman Rileigh Hudock who has 365 assists, averaging 7.93 assists per set. The backline is anchored by sophomore Aiyana Tietze-Di Toro who has 142 digs, Hudock who has 133, and Schneider who has 113. As a team, the Blue Jays have 492 kills, 446 assists, and 647 digs for the year.
