Volleyball suffers late-season setback

The Muskingum volleyball team fell to Ohio Athletic Conference foe Baldwin Wallace 3-1 (25-20, 27-29, 18-25, 20-25) Saturday afternoon at the Anne C. Steele Center.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (14-10 overall, 2-3 OAC), Baldwin Wallace (21-3, 3-2)
  • Location: New Concord, Ohio - Anne C. Steele Center

How It Happened

  • After claiming set one, the Muskies surrendered three straight-sets to the Yellow Jackets.
  • At the net, Muskingum was led by junior Chloe Brandewie, senior Katie Hunt, and sophomore Miranda Plumly all with double-digit kills. 
  • Brandewie posted a team-high 16 kills, while Hunt finished with 12 kills and Plumly 11 kills.
  • The trio also finished with a team-high three blocks each.
  • Junior Deidre Prince defended the court for Muskingum claiming 25 digs.
  • Freshman Rhieannae Cory guided the attack with 15 assists.
  • As a team, Muskingum recorded 53 kills and 47 assists.
  • Baldwin Wallace was led in the contest by Alicia Lortcher with a game-high 18 kills. 
  • Ellen Hawkins, Nikolette Scruggs and Allyson Smith all finished with double-digit kills for the Yellow Jackets.
