Women's Indoor Track and Field sets their eyes on a competitive season

The Muskingum women's track and field team sets their eyes on a competitive indoor season.

The Muskies return a total of eight varsity award winners who they will look to for leadership, motivation, and guidance. Muskingum will also look to their top-tier recruiting class to add depth to the team. The top eight athletes include sophomore Mikayla Deiotte, sophomore Tara Goubeaux, sophomore Emily Regan, junior Mary Double, senior Emily Ellyson, junior Louisa Smith, junior Macy McAdams, and sophomore Spencer Neville.

Last season, Deiotte guided the Muskies both in the field and on the track. Deiotte notched a career-best 800-meters time of 2:44.30 at the Ohio Wesleyan Invite. She also secured a 3,000-meter time of 13:28.69 at the Jessica Starks Open and an impressive high jump mark of 1.40 meters at the Bob Shannon Invitational. Deiotte secured a personal best 1,873 points in the pentathlon at the 2019 Polar Bear Final Qualifier and Multi.

Goubeaux directed the Muskies with a team-best weight throw mark of 11.76 meters. She also ranked second on the team with a shot put distance of 8.67 meters. Regan finished first on the team in the shot put (8.96 meters) and second on the team in the weight throw (10.95 meters).

Double secured a team-best 200-meters time of 28.70 at the 6th Annual Spartan Holiday Classic. She also logged a 400-meters time of 1:10.52 and a triple jump mark of 8.75 meters at the Bob Shannon Invitational.

Ellyson notched a high jump mark of 1.59 meters, while Smith locked in a 60-meters hurdles time of 10.45 at the 2019 Indoor OAC Championships.

McAdams led the Muskies with a team-best 5,000-meters time (18:37.61) and a team-low 3,000-meter time (11:02.84). Neville secured a personal best 400-meters time of 1:06.71 and a career-best 200-meters time of 28.98 at the Bob Shannon Invitational.

The Muskies begin their 2019-20 indoor season at the Marietta Invitational on Saturday, December 7.
