Tough night for the Muskies

The Muskingum women's soccer team lost a key Ohio Athletic Conference game against Mount Union on a chilly Tuesday night in McConagha stadium, 6-0.

Mount Union (10-5, 3-3) was led by Kelsey Malenic who led the scoring outburst with a four-goal performance. Nicole Moldovan added two goals to complete the scoring.

The Muskies (9-5-1, 2-4) mustered nine shots on the night. Junior Summer Setliff and senior Moriah Mathies paced the attack with two shots each. Sophomore Morgan Price, senior Carissa Myler, freshman Miranda Bishop, junior Hailey Dickey and sophomore Kenzie Faust each had one shot.

Liz Mitchell started the game and played the opening 45 minutes. She made five saves and allowed three goals. Senior Melissa Emmerich played the final 45 minutes in frame and made four saves and allowed three goals.

Maria Favorite recorded three saves en route to registering the shutout for the Purple Raiders.

Muskingum returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 25 at Ohio Northern. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
