Burkholder set to begin quest for a National Title

Muskingum senior wrestler Jordan Burkholder will begin his quest for a National Title and All-American honors this Friday in the 125-pound bracket at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, Virginia. The championships are scheduled for Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9. 

Burkholder, a First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, enters the event ranked eighth in the latest national poll with an outstanding 30-2 record which includes seven falls, seven technical falls, and two major decisions. He will face second-seed Mike Tortorice (29-3) of Wisconsin Whitewater in the opening round of the tournament. The top eight finishers in each weight class, which features 18 competitors, earn All-American honors. 

Throughout the season, Burkholder has compiled an impressive list of tournament accomplishments which include finishing first at the Waynesburg Tournament, first at the Washington & Jefferson Tournament, first at the Ohio Northern Tournament, and third at the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational. Most recently, Burkholder finished second at the NCAA Central Regional Championships to qualify for the national tournament.
