Wrestling battles Waynesburg on the road

The Muskingum wrestling team battled Waynesburg on the road Wednesday night. The Muskies fell to the Yellow Jackets, 33-16.

The Basics

On the Mat

  • Starting off for the Muskies at 125 pounds, senior Jordan Burkholder won by a technical fall, beating Dylan Williams at the 4:42 mark, 19-1. This put the Muskies up 6-0.
  • Junior Sammy Southers, at 141 pounds, took his battle against Matt Lascola into overtime and came out on top, 7-2. The victory gave Muskingum an 8-6 advantage.
  • At 149 pounds for the Muskies, senior Toby Warrington won by decision against Josh Kuslock, 5-3, putting Muskingum ahead 11-6.
  • Senior Tanner Walker, competing at 165 pounds, shutout Matt Claxton with a technical fall, 15-0. This gave the Muskies a 16-12 lead.
  • Waynesburg won the next four classes and edged out Muskingum, 33-16.
