Wrestling powers past Southern Virginia and Keystone

The Muskingum wrestling team powered past Southern Virginia and Keystone en route to posting a 2-1 record at the Washington & Lee Duals on Monday.

Muskingum's Jordan Burkholder, Sammy Southers, Toby Warrington, Tanner Walker and Garrett Mitchel all went 3-0 at the duals.

Burkholder recorded two decisions and a forfeit win in his 125-pound weight class, while Southers notched two decisions and a forfeit victory in the 133-pound weight class. Warrington, wrestling at 149 pounds, grabbed a fall against Efrain Amezquita of Trine at the 2:00 mark, an 18-3 technical fall against Blaine Phillips of Southern Virginia and completed his perfect day on the mat with a decision. Walker secured a 13-3 major decision in his 165-pound bout against Matthew Rohrdanz of Southern Virginia, a 17-2 technical fall against Nick Potter of Trine and ended the event with a forfeit win. Mitchel controlled the heavyweight division with a fall against Jake Rugis of Keystone in 45 seconds, an overtime 5-3 win against Zach Saylor of Trine and had an 8-3 decision against Ruben Mendez of Southern Virginia.

Antonio Zapata aided the Muskie effort with two wins, while Michael Kashuba, Slade Stiles, and Griffin Cooley all had one win.
