Zapata claims second place finish to lead wrestling at W&J Invitational

Sophomore Antonio Zapata finished runner-up in the 197-pound bracket to lead the Muskingum wrestling team at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational on Saturday.

The Basics 

  • The event was hosted by Washington & Jefferson at the Henry Memorial Center.
  • Muskingum placed 11th at the invitational.

On the Mat

  • Zapata led the Muskies with a second place finish in the 197-pound bracket. Zapata posted a 4-1 record, with one pin on the day.
  • Sophomore Jordan Burkholder went 3-2 in the 125-pound weight class. Burkholder finished the day with two pins.
  • Sophomore Toby Warrington finished 2-2 in the 141-pound weight class recording one pin.
  • In the 165-pound weight class, sophomore Tanner Walker finished 3-2 overall with two pins.
  • Freshman Jared Croswell finished 2-2 overall in the 285-pound weight class recording two pins.
