Spartans rally past Muskies

The Muskingum wrestling team fell against Case Western at the Si Ostrach Meet hosted by the Spartans at Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland on Saturday. Case rallied from an early deficit to beat the Muskies, 25-16.

  • Junior Jonathan Muntz overtook AJ Vetturini in extra time. The 157-pound battle ended with a score of 8-6.
  • Freshman Toby Warrington pinned Luke DiMuzio in the 133-pound weight class at the 2:49 mark of the match.
  • Freshman Jordan Burkholder won by decision with a score of 4-1. He went head-to-head with Matt Moy in the 125-pound weight class.
  • Freshman Tanner Walker won by major decision against Connor Gordon in the 165-pound weight class by a score of 10-1.
  • The Muskies built an early lead 16-6 lead after the 165-pound bout.
  • The Spartans rallied past the Muskies by winning the final four matches of the dual.
  • The event originally was slated to feature four teams - but inclement weather forced the event to change its format to only feature Muskingum and Case Western in a dual.
