Before taking the assistant coach position, Johnson played for Muskingum as a defender/midfielder, where she tallied the most caused turnovers in a season. Johnson was known as the defensive anchor of the team and a strong vocal point for the defense to rally behind.

Johnson also spent time at Muskingum as a duel-athlete, where she played in 22 games for the women's basketball team.

Johnson spent time as an assistant coach at D-Up Academy in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, where she helped coordinate and schedule practices and games. Johnson was also in charge of analyzing strengths and weaknesses of opposing teams, developing game strategies, instruct players on proper form and techniques, and was involved in strength and conditioning for the team.

Johnson adds time at Lutheran High School West, where she was a JV/Varsity assistant coach in charge of operating social media, stats, and strength and conditioning skills.

Johnson graduated from Muskingum University with a Bachelors of Arts in Marketing and Business Management. Having been a four year letter winner and awarded the Dedication to Sport Award in her time at Muskingum.
