Women’s Lacrosse beats Heidelberg in OAC action

Behind freshman Riley Hudock's program-record nine goals, the Muskingum women's lacrosse team defeated Heidelberg on Friday afternoon, 19-8.

Notables

  • With nine goals on the afternoon, freshman Riley Hudock broke the program record for goals in a game. The previous record was shared by Hudock and teammate Megan Lang who both scored eight goals in a win over Waynesburg earlier this season.
  • The win over Heidelberg also marked Head Coach Lindsey Grundfast's first Ohio Athletic Conference win at the helm for Muskingum.

How it Happened

  • Muskingum built an early lead, grabbing a quick 3-1 advantage after the first quarter of play.
  • Both offenses found their groove in the second period, as there were 12 combined goals in the quarter. Muskingum outscored Heidelberg 7-5 in that frame and took a 10-6 lead into the break.
  • The Muskies continued their hot offensive play, scoring seven more goals in the third quarter to build a 17-7 lead heading into the final frame.
  • In the fourth, Muskingum outscored the Student Princes 2-1 to secure its 19-8 victory.

  • The Muskies were led by freshman Riley Hudock who turned in a historic nine goals on the day. Hudock led the Muskies in ground balls as well with eight.
  • Freshman Haley Clifton also had a solid outing, tallying four goals and two assists for Muskingum.
  • Freshman Riley Zwagerman also registered four goals for the Muskies to go along with three ground balls.
  • Sophomores Emily Mullikin and Victoria Machado Diaz both tallied one goal each for the Muskies. Machado Diaz also registered one assist, while Mullikin tallied four ground balls.
  • Sophomore Cailin Wise put together a stellar day in net for the Muskies. She registered 18 saves on the game, just missing her season-high for saves by one.
