Women's Lacrosse drops heartbreaker against Marietta
The Muskingum women's lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaker against the Marietta Pioneers on Senior Night, 14-10.

  • The Muskies honored seniors Breanna Bailey and LaShawnda Robinson prior to the start of today's game.
  • Freshman Carly Spitz broke the school record for assists in a game with four. The previous record was shared by sophomore Hannah Bailey, who recorded three assists against Waynesburg in 2019 and Emily Hoffman, who tallied three assists versus Heidelberg University in 2017. Spitz also broke the school record for assists in a season with a total of 11. The previous mark was held by Paige Watterman who registered nine assists in 2018.

 

  • Sophomore Courtney Hines led the charge with four goals on 14 shots. 
  • Junior Dani Crisp chipped in three goals and amassed three ground balls. 
  • Spitz dished out four assists and registered two goals. 
  • Bailey registered one goal on five shots. 
  • Spitz also tallied a team-best eight draw controls. 
  • Sophomore Hannah Bailey recorded a career-high five draw controls. 
  • Hines also grabbed a team-high six ground balls. 
  • Freshman McKenzie Fuller contributed three draw controls. 
  • Sophomore Cieanna Jones played the entire sixty minutes in goal for the Muskies. Jones registered 11 saves on 25 shots. 
  • Rachel Sivie guided the Pioneers with six goals on fourteen shots. 
  • Shelby Millheim chipped in four goals and tallied two assists. 
  • Maddie Leers registered her second victory in goal for Marietta. Leers played thirty minutes, recorded seven saves, and saw a total of 12 shots. 
  • The Muskies ended the contest with a 40-32 advantage in shots. 

  • The Pioneers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead within the first sixteen minutes of play. 
  • The Muskies retaliated with four unanswered goals to trim the deficit to 7-4.
  • With 3:47 on the clock, Sivie netted a goal to expand the lead to 8-4.
  • Hines locked in a goal at the 1:36 juncture to get the Muskies within three-goals of the Pioneers at the half (8-5).
  • Marietta came out hot in the second half and scored three consecutive goals to widen the gap to 11-5.
  • Hines and Spitz tallied back-to-back goals in an attempt to close the gap, but the Pioneers could not be halted. 
  • Abbie Puchta registered a goal off of an assist by Millheim to lock in the 14-10 victory for Marietta. 
 
  • Muskingum next travels to Tiffin, Ohio to battle the Heidelberg University Student Princes on Saturday, April 27 in their last game of the 2018-19 season. Start time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
