Doug Smith serves as Muskingum's head men's and women's bowling coach and in 2023-24 will be entering his 12th year with the program.

Smith guided the Muskies to a highly successful 2022-23 season. The Muskingum Men’s Bowling team concluded its historic year with a club national championship and a Muskie bowler qualifying for the USBC Intercollegiate Singles National Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada. Additionally, Smiths’ student-athletes also earned spots on the All-OBC team for their exceptional performances and earned Academic All-OBC Honor Roll accolades and NCBCA Academic All-American honors for their outstanding performances in the classroom. 

He has led the Men and Women to consecutive Collegiate Club National Championship Tournaments (Men 6 and Women 7) as well as qualifying for USBC Sectionals and the OBC Championships.

The men have won the OBC regular season twice in the last three years and the women once. The men and women have been Runners-up in the OBC Championship Tournament in the post-seasons of 2019-20 (Women) and 2020-21 (Men).

Prior to arriving in New Concord, Smith was the head men's and women's bowling coach for Zanesville High School from 2008-16 where he led the girls to three state championship tournaments, including a third-place finish in 2012-13. He also led the boys to two state championships and a third-place finish in 2015-16.

Smith is a United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Silver Certified Coach, a member of the USBC Coaches Association, and a member of the National College Bowling Coaches Association. Smith is the founder of the Ohio Bowling Conference and also a two-time finalist for the National Club Women's Coach of the Year.

Smith resides with his wife of 41 years, Jill. Smith has two children, Aaron and Andrew, and two grandchildren.
