The Muskingum women's basketball team defeated OAC-foe Capital in a physical battle inside the Steele Center Wednesday evening, 63-60.

Notables

  • The game marked the programs faculty and staff appreciation game. Muskingum's Student-Athlete-Advisory-Committee and basketball program honored faculty and staff for their endless support to Muskingum Athletics.
  • The game also highlighted Officials' Appreciation Week. The purpose of the week is to recognize and thank conference officials across all sports in Division III.
  • The Brook Intermediate Jump Rope team performed at halftime of the contest.

Inside the Numbers

  • Sophomore Caitlyn DeMassimo led the Muskingum offense notching a team-high 19 points and six rebounds.
  • Freshman Claudia Harrington added 12 points and four rebounds for the Muskies.
  • Sophomore Halle Morehead, freshman Lizzy Allen and junior Taylor DeMassimo added eight points apiece on the night. Allen chipped in a team-high five assists, while Morehead tallied four assists, and DeMassimo hauled in five rebounds.
  •  Capital was led by Bri O'Connor who tallied a game-high 24 points,11 rebounds and five assists.
  • As a team Muskingum shot, 20-of-57 (35.1%) from the floor, while finishing 7-of-30 (23.3%) from beyond the arc.
  • Capital finished the contest 22-of-60 (36.7%) from the field, while shooting 3-of-13 (23.1%) from three-point-range.
  • The Comets outrebounded the Muskies 46-31, while Capital held a 19-7 advantage in second chance points.
  • Muskingum forced 14 Capital turnovers on the night and converted them into 14 points.
  • Capital held a 36-24 advantage in points in the paint, while Muskingum outscored the Comets 9-0 in fastbreak points.
