The Muskingum women's basketball team fell against Heidelberg, 72-68, in Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday.

• Senior Olivia Besancon registered 14 points to lead Muskingum and now stands at 972 career points. She is only 28 points shy of becoming the 21st Muskie to score 1,000 career points.

• Besancon led Muskingum with 14 points, while adding five rebounds and four assists.
• Freshman Emily Yeager collected her second straight double-digit scoring effort, finishing with 13.
• Senior Alexandra Carson tossed in nine points, three assists, and two steals.
• Senior Stephanie Clark chipped in eight points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the second game in a row.
• The Muskies concluded the contest making .347 (25-of-72) from the floor and hitting 12-of-16 from the free throw line.
• Brooke Beamer led Heidelberg with game-high 22 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
• Madelyn Crawford and Brittanie Ulmer each tallied 15 points, while Ulmer snagged a monstrous 20 rebounds.
• Heidelberg ended the game shooting .418 (28-of-67) and held a 52-42 edge in rebounds.

Game Highlights

The first quarter was an evenly matched contest as the score at the end of the frame was tied 17-17. The Student Princes used a 9-2 run in the beginning of the second quarter to take the 26-19 advantage with 4:26 on the clock. In the final 46 seconds, Muskingum closed off the frame by drilling back-to-back three's from Besancon and Alivia Bates to cut the Heidelberg lead, 31-29, at intermission.

Muskingum took its first lead in the third quarter off a pair of made free throws from Yeager to make it a 40-37 game with 5:11 remaining. Heidelberg fueled a 10-3 run to close the third off with a 49-43 advantage. The Student Princes pushed the lead to 10 points at the 7:34 marker after starting the fourth quarter making four of the first five shots from the floor. Muskingum fought its way back to within one, 60-59, with 3:24 to play, but the Student Princes never let up and sealed the OAC contest.
