Muskingum names Marcum and Dobrinick assistant coaches for softball

Kylee Marcum and Hannah Dobrinick have been named assistant coaches for the Muskingum softball program.

"I am excited to welcome Kylee and Hannah into the Muskie softball family. They will bring energy and excellence to our program in their own unique ways," said Muskingum Softball Head Coach Laina Connor. "We are moving Muskingum softball into a new generation, and Coach Marcum and Coach Dobrinick will be instrumental in student-athlete support on and off the field."

Before bringing her talents and softball knowledge to Muskingum, Marcum served as the assistant coach for the New Albany High School softball program in 2021. While at New Albany, she helped lead the Eagles to a 13-win season and had student-athletes earn all-state, all-metro, and Ohio Capital Conference honors. Additionally, her responsibilities included creating scouting reports, developing student-athletes, organizing pitching youth camps, and fundraising while also planning and implementing offense and defense game strategies.

Marcum also served as an assistant coach with the Ohio Stingrays Softball Club Organization, helping the head coach with all aspects of the game. Responsibilities included serving as the hitting and pitching coach, managing the team, scheduling and creating team workouts, budgeting, and recruiting. Furthermore, Marcum conducted strength and conditioning programs, directed individual and small group exercises for hitting, pitching, and fielding for softball players ages 10-18, and assisted 20+ student-athletes through the recruiting process with various institutions across all divisions.

Marcum played for four years at The Ohio State University Newark Campus. Her outstanding performance in the circle earned her Ohio Regional Campus Conference Player of the Year in 2012 and 2014, where she amassed 200 strikeouts and had an astonishing 0.77 ERA. Marcum earned her Bachelor of Arts in human services from Southern Hampshire University in 2015.

Dobrinick was a four-year letter winner and a three-year starter for the Otterbein University softball program. She helped guide the Cardinals to their second OAC Tournament Championship in 2019, which earned them a spot in the NCAA Regional Tournament. Dobrinick capped off her final season by earning Honorable Mention All-OAC after posting the fourth-best batting average in the league. Her efforts earned her OAC Hitter of the Week twice during the 2021 season. Dobrinick etched her name in the all-time Cardinal record book claiming the sixth-best slugging percentage (.684) and is third in career home runs (14).

Before arriving in New Concord, Dobrinick worked as a volunteer assistant coach for the Penn Trafford 10U Allstar team and as a 15U recreational team coach. Additionally, she's a hitting instructor where she develops a plan and implements hitting drills for multiple athletes based on their skills and needs. Dobrinick earned her Bachelor of Arts in sports management from Otterbein University in 2021.
