Softball celebrates emotional Senior Day at Denison

The Muskingum softball team fell at Denison in an emotional Senior Day battle on Sunday, 3-2. This marked the end of a shortened season for the Muskies.

Notables

  • Before the start of the game, Muskingum softball seniors Jaelyn Meade, Kasey Rininger, and Jennifer Schrader were honored. The contest marked the final softball outing of the year following the Ohio Athletic Conference announcement on Thursday by the Presidents Council to cancel the 2020 spring sports seasons effective March 16 to protect the health and safety of all of our students and communities.

How it Happened

  • In the first inning, Hawk cranked a one-run single up the middle to give the Muskies a 1-0 lead over Denison.
  • The Big Red retaliated with one run off of two hits in the bottom of the second inning to tie up play at 1-1.
  • Powers singled to right center in the top of the third inning, to score Boggs and give the Muskies a one-run edge (2-1) over the Big Red.
  • Hamre belted a two-run double to left center in the bottom of the sixth inning to propel Denison to the 3-2 win.
