Hughes named OAC Softball Hitter of the Week

Muskingum senior outfielder Krissy Hughes was named OAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the second time this season due to her spectacular play on Tuesday vs. Marietta and Thursday vs. Heidelberg. Hughes helped lead the Muskies to an overall 4-0 record on the week.

Hughes guided the Muskies batting a blistering .600 as the leadoff hitter. She notched an impressive nine hits, scored nine runs, and tallied seven RBIs. She ended the week with three doubles and blasted one home run.

Hughes directed the Muskies to an Ohio Athletic Conference sweep against Heidelberg on Thursday. In game one, Hughes went 3-for-4 at the plate, recording two doubles, securing one stolen base, and registering a team-best two RBIs. In game two, Hughes went 2-for-4 at the plate, cranked one home run, and tallied three RBIs. Her efforts helped the Muskies set up a showdown for the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season Title on Saturday. Hughes also set the school record for doubles in a season with 21 and tied the school mark for runs scored in a season with 53. Earlier this season, Hughes set the school records for stolen bases in a season and career.

The Muskies next host the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears on Saturday, April 27. Game one of the doubleheader is slated for 1:00 p.m.
