Softball drops doubleheader against Wooster
The Muskingum softball team dropped a doubleheader against the College of Wooster Fighting Scots on Thursday. The Muskies fell 6-3 in game one and slipped 6-5 in nine innings in game two.

GAME ONE
 
In the bottom of the fourth inning, freshman Haley Hawk fired up the Muskies with a three-run home run to jump out to an early 3-0 lead.
 
Wooster retaliated with five runs on five hits in the top of the sixth inning to secure a two-run edge on the Muskies (5-3).  Molly Linkins highlighted the inning with a two-run double to center field, while Gabby Lakes blasted a two-run double to right field. 
 
Grace Randall closed out the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the seventh inning en route to the 6-3 victory over the Muskies. 
 
Hawk went 3-for-3 at the plate and led the Muskies with a team-best three RBIs with one home run. Freshman Hannah Miller belted a double. 
 
Senior Rachel Eberling took the loss for the Muskies after pitching five innings and allowing four runs on six hits. Sophomore Hannah Duff closed the game for the Muskies, allowing two runs on four hits. 
 
Likins and Lakes guided the Scots with two RBIs each. Olivia Johnson secured her ninth victory of the season for the Scots after tossing a complete-game seven hitter, with 12 strikeouts.
 
GAME TWO
 
In the top of the third inning, Chelsea Copley homered to left field to secure an early 1-0 lead for the Scots. 
 
Miller answered back with an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie up play at 1-1. 
 
Kendall Lloyd blasted a three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to slide past the Muskies with a score of 4-1. In the bottom of the fifth inning, sophomore Riley Powers scored on a passed ball and sophomore Jaelyn Meade scored on a throwing error by the catcher to get the Muskies within one run of the Scots (4-3). 
 
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Hawk singled to left field to score Meade who had tripled earlier in the frame, to send the game to extra innings. 
 
Wooster secured one run on one hit in the top of the eighth inning to jump out to a 5-4 lead. Sophomore Kasey Rininger singled through the left side in the bottom of the eighth inning, to score freshman Katie Osburn and tie the contest 5-5.
 
The Scots notched one run on two hits in the top of the ninth inning to lock in game two, 6-5. 
 
Meade went 2-for-4 at the plate and guided the Muskies with one double and tallied one triple. Hawk, Miller, and Rininger each chipped in one RBI.
 
Duff took the loss for the Muskies after pitching four innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Freshman Hannah Smith saw action in five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits. 
 
Lloyd directed the Scots with four RBIs and one home run, while Copley amassed one RBI and blasted one home run. Johnson recorded her tenth victory in the circle for the Scots. She pitched a total of 4.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits, with five strikeouts.
