Hughes named OAC Softball Hitter of the Week

Muskingum senior outfielder Krissy Hughes was named OAC Softball Hitter of the Week for her spectacular play on Wednesday vs. Ohio Wesleyan, Saturday vs. Wilmington, and Sunday vs. Thomas More. Hughes led the Muskies to an overall 6-2 record on the week and a 2-0 slate in the OAC.

Hughes guided the Muskies batting .633 as the leadoff hitter. She notched an impressive 19 hits, scored 15 runs, and tallied two RBIs. She ended the week with nine doubles and two triples.

Hughes directed the Muskies to an Ohio Athletic Conference sweep against Wilmington on Saturday. In game one, Hughes went 3-for-4 at the plate and notched two doubles. In game two, Hughes went 3-for-4 at the plate, recording one double and securing one stolen base. Her efforts helped move Muskingum to 38-0 all-time against Wilmington. Hughes also set the Muskingum season and career stolen base records. She now has 22 stolen bases on the season and 66 for her career.

The Muskies next travel to Granville, Ohio to battle Denison on Wednesday, March 27. Game one of the doubleheader is slated for 3:30 p.m.
