Softball receives votes in NFCA Top 25 poll for the second week in a row

The Muskingum softball team received votes in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll for the second week in a row. The Muskies received a total of 11 points in the poll. 

The Muskies are currently 10-2 after playing in the D9 Sunkissed Games in Plant City, Florida. As a team, Muskingum is batting .348 and averaging 10 hits, and 6.5 runs per game.

Senior Krissy Hughes is batting .512, with two home runs, five doubles, 11 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases. Her strong week of play was recognized by the Ohio Athletic Conference as a Player of the Week nominee and by Louisville Slugger/NFCA as a Division III National Player of the Week nominee. 

Freshman Haley Hawk guides the Muskies batting .519, with a team-best 13 RBIs off of 14 hits. Sophomore Jaelyn Meade is batting .382 with a team-high three home runs, while sophomore Karsyn Shaffer is hitting .357 with 11 runs scored. Sophomore Riley Powers is hitting .351 with four doubles.

The Muskie pitching staff sports a 2.80 ERA and is holding hitters to a .236 batting average. Senior Rachel Eberling leads the staff with a record of 5-1 and a 2.18 ERA. She is also batting .350 with seven RBIs. Freshman Hannah Smith carries a 3-0 mark, and sophomore Hannah Duff has a 1.91 ERA with a team-best 23 strikeouts. 

Muskingum next plays at Wittenberg on Tuesday, March 19. Start time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
