Softball honored with five All-OAC selections

The Muskingum softball team was honored by the Ohio Athletic Conference on Monday when the league announced that five Muskies were named All-OAC.

Junior Krissy Hughes and freshman Jaelyn Meade earned First Team All-OAC, while senior Haylea Debolt was named Second Team All-OAC, and junior Rachel Eberling and sophomore Jolyn Shunk tallied Honorable Mention honors.

Hughes captured her second straight All-OAC honors after she led the conference in batting average (.457) and ranked second in stolen bases (19). She led the squad in hits (64), runs scored (41), slugging percentage (.721), and triples (4) and was second in home runs with five. She also belted 14 doubles and had 31 RBIs.

Meade was third on the team in batting average (.391), slugging percentage (.583), and doubles (11). She also notched 25 RBIs, scored 18 runs, and hit three home runs, and a triple.

Debolt earned her first All-OAC honors after she led the league in RBIs (40), while batting .346. In addition, she was second on the team in doubles (13) and was fourth in runs scored (23). From the circle, she held a 2.98 ERA, which ranked seventh in the conference. Debolt also led the team in saves with two.

Eberling collected her second straight All-OAC accolade after she led the team in wins going 11-6 with a 3.55 ERA in 100.2 innings of work from the circle. Earlier this spring, she recorded a no-hitter against Alfred in a 3-0 win. At the plate, Eberling blasted an OAC leading nine home runs, registered 37 RBIs and batted .328.

Shunk notched her first All-OAC honors after she hit .339 with 14 runs scored, 11 RBIs, and five doubles.
