The Ohio Athletic Conference has named freshman second baseman Karsyn Shaffer and freshman pitcher Hannah Duff the OAC Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week.

The Muskies opened their 2018 campaign with an 11-1 record during the D9 Sunkissed Games in Kissimmee, Florida from March 4-10. Muskingum won 11 straight games before falling against Rowan on Saturday. The last time Muskingum has started off the season with 11 straight wins was during the 1998 season.

Duff posted a perfect 6-0 record from the circle after seeing action in 29.0 innings, registered 12 strikeouts, which included a season-high six against Wheaton (Mass.), allowed just six runs, and finished the week with a 0.97 ERA.

Shaffer posted a .638 batting average with 30 hits in 47 at-bats, 19 runs scored, eight RBIs, two doubles, and a triple during the week. Shaffer started off her college career by going 9-for-9 at the plate with five runs scored, two RBIs, and a triple during the first two games.
