Eberling leads Muskies in sweep of John Carroll

Sophomore Rachel Eberling captured the win in game two of an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader at John Carroll to lead the Muskingum softball team past the Blue Streaks on Saturday afternoon. The Muskies won the opener in extra innings, 7-6 and claimed the nightcap, 7-5.

The Basics 

  • Records: Muskingum (14-22 overall, 7-9 OAC), John Carroll (17-15 overall, 6-10 OAC)
  • Location: University Heights, Ohio - Bracken Field 

Game One 

  • Sophomore Krissy Hughes led the Muskies at the plate going 4-for-5 with two RBI's and a run scored.
  • Eberling finished the game 1-for-2 with two RBI's and a home run.
  • Muskingum scored seven runs on 10 hits.
  • Senior Haley Dotson claimed the win in the circle pitching a complete game allowing six runs on 11 hits.
  • John Carroll was led by Angie Zappitelli going 1-for-4 with three RBI's.
  • Jessica Cook dealt the loss for the Blue Streaks pitching 1.2 innings surrendering one run on one hit.
  • Trailing 2-0, Muskingum capitalized on a John Carroll miscue to tie the contest in the top of the third inning, 2-2. 
  • The Muskies captured their first lead of the contest in the top of the fourth inning scoring four runs, 6-4.
  • John Carroll tied the contest in the bottom of the seventh inning following a Muskie miscue, 6-6.
  • In the top of the ninth, Eberling recorded the game-winning run as she recorded her fifth home run of the season. 

Game Two

  • Senior Jessica Matthews led the Muskies at the plate going 2-for-4 with four RBI's and a run scored.
  • Junior Haylea Debolt ended the game 2-for-4 with two RBI's and two runs scored.
  • Muskingum scored seven runs on 14 hits.
  • Eberling collected the win pitching a complete game allowing five runs on 12 hits.
  • The Blue Streaks were led at the plate by Jennie Broski going 3-for-4 with a RBI.
  • In the circle, Jessica Cook took the loss pitching two innings allowing two runs on five hits.
  • Muskingum tied the contest in the top of the third inning as Debolt homered scoring Hughes, 2-2.
  • The Muskies captured its first lead of the game in the top of the fifth inning as Mathews homered scoring Hughes and sophomore Cassie Thomas, 5-2.
  • Muskingum tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning en route to the win.

  • Muskingum returns to action Saturday, April 29 as they host Baldwin Wallace. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
