The Muskingum University men's cross country team opened the 2014 season with a first-place finish in the three-team field of the Muskingum Relay Meet.

Seniors Ryan Dodd and Tim Fries teamed to finish first with a course record time of 53:10.

Seniors Nathan Peck and Broc Wilkins placed second with a time of 54:51.

Junior Ryan Cunningham and Freshman Tyler Klostermeier finished fourth with a combined time of 58:06.

The Muskies tallied seven points, which beat Ohio Valley (14 points) and Bethany College (24 points). The relay event was a total of 12 miles, six miles per competitor.

Muskingum next competes at the Bethany Invitational on Saturday, September 13.
