Weidner leads Men's Track and Field at the Muskingum Invitational

Junior Blake Weidner finished second in the high jump to lead the Muskingum men's track and field team at the Muskingum Invitational.

The Basics 

  • Location: New Concord, Ohio - McConagha Stadium
  • Muskingum also hosted the All-Ohio Multi Championships with day two to be completed on Sunday, April 9.

In the Field 

  • Junior Blake Weidner led the Muskies finishing second in the high jump with a height of 1.98 meters.
  • Junior Jeffrey Burkholder claimed a second place finish in the shot put with a toss of 14.26 meters.
  • In the triple jump, sophomore Casey Phillips finished third with a leap of 12.19 meters.
  • Sophomore Jordan Wallace finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.83 meters.
  • Burkholder also claimed a fourth-place finish in the discus throw with a toss of 40.72 meters, while senior Andre Buffington finished fourth in the hammer with a pitch of 43.37 meters.
  • Freshman Gino Carey claimed a fifth-place finish in the javelin with a toss of 35.50 meters.
  • Junior Alex Sullivan finished sixth in the discus throw with a toss of 40.04 meters and took sixth in the shot put with a pitch of 11.85 meters.
  • Sullivan also finished ninth in the hammer with a distance of 34.04 meters.
  • Freshman Trevon Hannah finished ninth in the discus, while freshman William Lawrence finished 10th in the hammer throw.
  • Sophomore Wade Floyd also captured a 10th place finish in the shot put.

On the Track

  • The 4x100-meter relay team of freshman Isaiah Abel, junior Devan Boyer, senior Desmond Waden and sophomore Zachary Fuhrer finished second with a time of 45.80.
  • Freshman Doug McIntire finished third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:18.19.
  • the 4x400-meter relay of senior Corey Dillon, freshman John Soppanish, junior Fred Stinson and freshman Logan Skolosh claimed a fourth-place finish with a time of 3:37.86.
  • Freshman Dustin Hardesty finished fourth in the 500-meter run with a time of 17:24.23.
  • Skolosh claimed a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.20.
  • Sophomore Andrew Murray finished fifth in the 500-meter run with a time of 17:47.24.
  • In the 400-meter dash, Fuhrer finished fifth with a time of 59.56.
  • Soppanish claimed a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.42.
  • Stinson finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.53, followed by Skolosh in ninth and senior Jimmy Glaze in 10th.
  • Phillips finished eighth in the 110-hurdles with a time of 17.71, Dillon took ninth in the 800-meter run.
  • Stinson took 10th in the 200-meter dash, freshman Jacob McGee captured a 10th place finish in the 500-meter dash.

All-Ohio Multi Championships 

  • Junior Darrell Briggs led the Muskies finishing fifth overall in the decathlon with 5,007 points.
  • The junior finished fourth in the javelin throw with a toss of 37.78 meters.
  • In the discus throw, Briggs finished second with a throw of 10.47 meters and finished second in the shot put with a distance of 10.47 meters.
  • He also claimed a second place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.22 meters, while claiming fourth in the pole vault with a height of 3.04 meters.
  • Briggs captured a third place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.72 meters.
  • In the 110-meter hurdles, he finished second with a time of 15.97 and took sixth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 6:07.88.
  • The junior finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.81 and sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.70.
