Despot sets new javelin record

Muskingum sophomore Nick Despot set the javelin record with a throw of 192-8 at the Ohio University Open Invitational. This mark broke the old record of 191-7 set in 2010 by Jarrod Ridgeway.

Fellow sophomore Jeff Burkholder finished second in the men's shot put with a throw of 14.90m.

At the Hillsdale Last-Chance Classic, Despot led Muskingum with a first-place finish in the javelin. He recorded a toss of 184-00.

Sophomore Darrell Briggs battled in the decathlon. Briggs took fifth place in the long jump with a leap of 6.26 meters. He placed sixth overall, totaling 5,065 points.

Freshman Darren McCaughan competed in the long jump. His jump of 6.69 meters allowed him to place sixth overall.
