Men's Track and Field competes at the All-Ohio Championships; Buffington ties school record in weight throw

The Muskingum men's track and field team competed at the All-Ohio Championships Saturday hosted by Otterbein University.

All-Ohio Championships

  • Location: Westerville, Ohio - Clements Recreation Center

What Happened 

  • Junior Darrell Briggs claimed All-Ohio honors in the heptathlon finishing third overall.
  • Briggs finished second in the long jump with a leap of 6.00 meters. He finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.47 and third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.97. The freshman captured a fourth place finish in the shot put with a pitch of 10.24 meters. Briggs finished fifth in the high jump, sixth in the 1,000-meter run and seventh in the pole vault.
  • Junior Blake Weidner captured an eighth place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.88 meters.

OWU Open

  • Location: Delaware, Ohio - Gordon Field House

What Happened 

  • Senior Andre Buffington captured a first place finish in the weight throw tying the school record with a pitch of 16.04 meters.
  • Freshman Logan Skolosh finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.67.
  • In the high jump, sophomore Jordan Wallace finished first with a height of 1.75 meters.
  • Senior Alex Sullivan captured a first place finish in the shot put with a pitch of 12.46 meters. Sophomore Wade Floyd finished third with a toss of 11.26 meters.
  • Sullivan also captured a second place finish in the weight throw with a pitch of 14.15 meters.
  • Junior Derek Stover claimed a second place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.22.
  • In the 60-meter dash, senior Desmond Waden finished second with a time of 7.44, followed by junior Fred Stinson in third with a time of 7.53, junior Derek Stover in fourth with a time of 7.61 and sophomore Devan Boyer in fifth with a time of 7.67.
  • Stinson also captured a third place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.36.
  • Freshman John Soppanish claimed a fourth place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:08.11.
  • Waden finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.85, followed by Boyer in fifth with a time of 25.12.
  • In the weight throw, freshman Trevon Hannah finished fourth with a toss of 10.53 meters.
  • Freshman Doug McIntire finished fifth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:36.22.
