Briggs named All-Ohio and Lardie wins triple jump at Denison

Muskingum sophomore Darrell Briggs earned All-Ohio honors in the heptathlon and senior Chris Lardie captured first in the triple jump to lead the Muskies at the All-Ohio Combined Events Championship and the Bob Shannon Invitational at Denison on Saturday-Sunday.

The Basics

  • Location: Granville, Ohio – Denison University – Mitchell Center
  • Heptathlon Results: Briggs finished second in the six-athlete field with 3951 points. 
  • Invitational Results: Muskingum scored 70.50 points to finish fourth in the 10-team field of the Bob Shannon Invitational. Carnegie Mellon won the meet with 139 points. 

Heptathlon

  • Briggs earned All-Ohio honors with his second-place finish in the event. He finished second in the 60-meter dash (7.42), 1000-meter run (3:05.28) and the 60-meter hurdles (8.78). He took third in the long jump (19-7.50).

In The Field

  • Senior Chris Lardie finished first in triple jump with a mark of 12.45 meters and grabbed sixth in long jump with a mark of 6.10 meters.
  • Sophomore Blake Weidner placed second in high jump with a mark of 1.82 meters.
  • Senior Dominic Bell took third in pole vault with a mark of 4.27 meters.
  • Junior Andre Buffington finished third in weight throw with a mark of 14.80 meters.
  • Sophomore Jeffrey Burkholder took fourth in shot put with a mark of 14.36 meters.
  • McCaughan placed fourth in long jump with a mark of 6.23 meters. 

On The Track

  • Freshman Casey Phillips finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.91.
  • Sophomore Fred Stinson finished seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.34.
  • The 4x200-meter relay team finished sixth with a time of 1:38.64.
  • The 4x400-meter relay team took eighth with a time of 3:46.55.
