Muskie men compete at OAC Split Meet

The Muskingum men's indoor track and field team finished fourth at the OAC Split Meet at Capital on Saturday, where senior Andre Buffington and sophomore Darrell Briggs each grabbed first-place finishes.

What Happened

  • Senior Andre Buffington helped lead the Muskies with a first-place finish in weight throw with a mark of 15.06.
  • Sophomore Darrell Briggs also helped lead Muskingum with a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.59.
  • Senior Marty Vajen placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.07.
  • Sophomore Fred Stinson finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.59.
  • Freshman Brady Hall finished third in the one-mile run with a time of 4:56.45.
  • Junior Anthony Kall placed fourth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:19.29.
  • Freshman Casey Phillips placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.06.
  • The 4x200-meter relay team of Stinson, Phillips, senior Desmond Waden, and freshman Darren McCaughan finished second with a time of 1:36.54.
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of Stinson, Vajen, Briggs, and Phillips finished fourth with a time of 3:43.00.
  • The Distance Medley team of Kall, Hall, junior Corey Dillon, and freshman Zachary Fuhrer placed third with a time of 12:00.65.
  • Sophomore Blake Weidner placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.80 meters.
  • Senior Dominic Bell finished fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.85 meters.
  • McCaughan finished second in the long jump with a mark of 6.32 meters.
  • Sophomore Jeff Burkholder placed third in the shot put with a mark of 13.90 meters.
  • The Muskies scored 91 total points. The event featured Capital, Otterbein, Wilmington and the Muskies. Otterbein won the meet with 220 points.
