Men's tennis drops pair of matches against Mount Vernon and Concordia

The Muskingum men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday against Mount Vernon Nazarene and Concordia.

The Muskies opened the day with a 9-0 setback at Mount Vernon. The Cougars grabbed the early momentum by sweeping the doubles action. Muskingum's third doubles tandem of seniors Caleb Patton and Micah Keith fell in a hard-fought 8-6 battle against Anthony Howard and Vince LoPrinzi.

Patton, junior Vincent Lobinger, and freshman William Ford all nearly secured wins in singles play. Patton lost 7-5, 3-6, 7-10 in his fourth singles match against Howard. Lobinger fell 6-4, 7-5 against Eric Miller at fifth singles, and Ford slipped 6-3, 6-4 against LoPrinzi at sixth singles.

Muskingum ended the day with a neutral site loss against Concordia, 6-3. Two of the three Muskie wins came via forfeits at third doubles and sixth singles. Keith notched the final tally for the Muskies with a thrilling 6-3, 3-6, 10-4 triumph at third singles.

Muskingum returns to action on Saturday, September 22, at Waynesburg. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
