Men’s Soccer Takes on Mount Union & Ohio Northern This Week

The Muskingum men's soccer team will head to Alliance on Tuesday to take on Mount Union at 7:00 p.m. and then welcome Ohio Northern to North Athletic Turf Field on Saturday, October 21 at 4:00 p.m.

Muskingum Notes (Roster | Schedule | Statistics)

  • Muskingum and Baldwin Wallace sat at a 0-0 deadlock at the half, but five second-half goals lifted BW over MU on Saturday. Tre Boger logged his second goal of the season, and only goal scored for the Muskies, at the 74-minute marker.   
  • The Muskies are 2-10-1 overall and 0-4 in the OAC.
  • Midfielder Johnny Aisthorpe leads the team in total points with 15 (six goals, three assists). In the OAC, he is tied for eighth in goals and tied for seventh in total points.
  • Midfielder Drew Wise has tabbed five assists to lead the squad.
  • Goalkeeper Josh Routte has tallied 38 saves in the frame this season. He is tied for sixth in the conference in saves.
  • Goalkeeper William Bradshaw has grabbed 30 saves and ranks 11 in the OAC in saves.
  • Muskingum last beat Mount Union in double overtime during the 2015 season.

  • Mount Union defeated Capital, 2-1, in Alliance on Saturday.
  • The Purple Raiders are 6-6-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the OAC.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Zach Hlas has collected three shutouts, 56 saves, and holds a 1.00 goals-against average. He ranks second in saves and save percentage, and fifth in goals-against average in the conference.
  • Senior's Kevin Blackley and Stephen Dages lead Mount Union in goals with five each. They are both tied for 16th in the OAC in goals.
  • Dages also leads the squad in points with 15 (five goals, five assists) and assists (five). He is tied for seventh in the conference in points.
  • As a team, they rank first in assists (43) and fourth in goals-against average in the OAC.

Ohio Northern Notes (Roster | Schedule | Statistics)

  • Ohio Northern lost 2-1 in overtime to NCAA Division III #10 John Carroll on Saturday.
  • The Polar Bears are 9-5-1 overall and 2-3 in OAC action.
  • Senior J.J. Fortner ranks first on the team in goals (10) and points with 22 (10 goals, two assists). He is second and tied for third in goals and points, respectively, in the conference.
  • Senior Grant Cayot is first on the team in assists (four).
  • Freshman goalkeeper Dylan Plank has registered 38 saves, five shutouts, and a 0.90 goals-against average. He ranks third in goals-against average and tied for eighth in saves.
  • As a team, they have notched 23 assists and 33 goals which is tied for fourth and tied for third, respectively, in the OAC.
