Men’s Soccer Hosts Rivals Marietta Tuesday & Travels to Otterbein Saturday

The Muskingum men's soccer team will continue Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action this week as they host rivals Marietta at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and travel to Columbus Saturday to take on Otterbein at 1:00 p.m.

Muskingum Notes (Roster | Schedule | Statistics)

  • Muskingum opened up OAC play at home on Saturday and lost a hard fought 2-1 contest against undefeated Heidelberg. Chase Michael Hilliard notched the lone goal for the Muskies' at the 82-minute marker.
  • The Muskies are 2-7-1 overall and 0-1 in the OAC.
  • Midfielder Johnny Aisthorpe leads the team in points with 15 (six goals, three assists). In the OAC, he is fifth in goals (6) and sixth in points (six goals, three assists).
  • Midfielder Drew Wise has tabbed five assists to lead the squad.
  • Goalkeeper Josh Routte has tallied 23 saves in the frame this season.
  • Muskingum last beat Marietta and Otterbein during the 2012 campaign. Both games went into double overtime and each game ended in a 2-1 victory.

  • Marietta played on the road against OAC opponent Baldwin Wallace on Saturday and left with a 5-2 victory to open up conference play.
  • The Pioneers have won two straight contests to improve their record to 7-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the OAC.
  • Goalkeeper Tyler Sholl is first in the OAC in save percentage (.935) and goals-against average (0.31), and has grabbed 29 saves which is sixth best. He ranks sixth in the NCAA DIII in goals-against average and fifth in save percentage.
  • Andy Rolfes and Tom Sloan each have notched four goals this season to lead the team. Rolfes also leads the team in points with 10 (four goals, two assists).
  • The team has registered seven shutouts this season.

  • Otterbein defeated Capital 1-0 on Saturday to stretch their winning streak to five in a row.
  • The Cardinals are 7-2 overall and 1-0 in OAC action.
  • Juan Rivas is first on the team in points with 16 (seven goals, two assists) and goals (seven). He is fourth in the OAC in goals and tied for fourth in points.
  • Erick Juarez-Manning is first on the team and third in the OAC in assists (six).
  • Collin Hoffmann is second in the conference in saves (36) and seventh in goals-against average (1.01).
  • As a team, the Cardinals have registered 24 assists and 23 goals which is second and tied for fourth, respectively, in the OAC.
