Men's Soccer drops overtime thriller to Washington & Jefferson

Washington & Jefferson scored the golden goal minutes into overtime to combat the Muskie rally on a cold, rainy Wednesday at Muskie Field, 3-2.

How It Happened

  • Washington & Jefferson jumped to a two-goal lead in the first half as Jason Yobbi connected with Kyle Wisniewski on back-to-back corner kicks.
  • In the 34th minute, the Muskies delivered their first blow of the contest as junior Trent Newby connected with senior Gage Toy on a corner kick that cut the deficit to 2-1.
  • Newby would net the equalizer in the 86th minute as he fired a free ball from outside the 20-yard box that beat the goalie to the far post.
  • The Muskies dominated the ball in the second half, out shooting the Presidents 13-11.
  • Wash. & Jeff. scored the game-winning goal in the 98th minute as Matt Prezioso collected a deflected ball inside the 18-yard box.
  • Newby finished the contest with six shots and two on frame.

Between the Pipes

  • Sophomore Gabriel Kral started in frame for the Muskies playing all 98 minutes and surrendering three goals. The sophomore made a season-high 11 saves.
  • Jeremy Stone got the win for the Presidents playing all 98 minutes with four saves.
