Men's Soccer comeback goal drives game to overtime

The Muskingum men's soccer team battled Bethany to a double overtime 1-1 draw on the final day of the Fuzzy Williams Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

The Basics

How It Happened

  • Senior Zach Schmauch scored the equalizer in the 79th minute off a breakaway pass from senior Gage Toy.
  • Toy led the attack with three shots, two on goal.
  • Sophomore Alex Furst finished with two shots for the Muskies.
  • Muskingum ended the outing with 11 shots, five on frame.
  • Jay O'Donnell netted the first goal of the contest in the 76th minute as he took a pass from Adam Franco from inside the 6-yard box.
  • Bethany finished with 26 shots, 14 on frame.
  • The game marked Muskingum's first draw since the 2013-14 season when the Muskies and Marietta played to a 1-1 double overtime draw.

Between the Pipes

  • Sophomore Gabriel Kral got the start in frame for Muskingum logging 110 minutes of action. The sophomore finished with eight saves.
  • Callum Appleby saw 110 minutes of action, making three saves.
