The Muskingum men's soccer team was stung in double overtime against Otterbein on a cold Saturday afternoon, 2-1.
The Matchup
- Records: Muskingum (3-11 overall, 0-5 OAC), Otterbein (7-5-2 overall, 2-2-1 OAC)
- Location: New Concord, Ohio - at Muskie Field
The Game
- Muskingum struck first in the 69th minute on junior Zach Schmauch's shot from 20 yards. The tally was the second of the season for Schmauch.
- Otterbein tied the game in the 86th minute on a strike from Nate Norris that was assisted by Blake Steenrod.
- The Cardinals won the outing in the 106th minute on a direct kick from Ross Pfeil that hit the far post and ricocheted in the goal.
- Otterbein ended the game with a 35-10 advantage in shots and held a 9-5 edge in corner kicks.
- Schmauch led the team with three shots, including two on frame.
- Junior William Debolt, freshman Chase Michael Hilliard and junior Antonio Meehan all added two shots.
- The loss marked Muskingum's fifth overtime setback in its last eight games.
In the Net
- Freshman Gabe Kral played the entire game in frame and made 11 saves, which included a penalty kick in the opening half.
- Mack Stamper made three saves and allowed one goal.
