Men's soccer handed setback at Otterbein

The Muskingum men's soccer was handed a 2-1 setback at Otterbein on a crisp Saturday night.

The Muskies (4-11, 0-5) struck first in the 20th minute on sophomore Antonio Meehan's second goal of the season. The goal came on a Meehan cross that Otterbein keeper Mack Stamper misplayed.

Otterbein (9-6, 2-3) quickly tied the contest in the 23rd minute on Luis Rivas' header off of Costa Poulias' cross.

The contest was tied 1-1 at the break, with Ottebein holding an 11-4 edge in shots.

The Cardinals scored the game-winning strike in the 67th minute on Jonathan Boardman's first goal of the season off an assist from Jared Pulliam.

Otterbein ended the second half with a 13-6 edge in shots. Overall, the Cardinals held an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.

Rivas and Pulliam led Otterbein with five shots each. Muskingum freshman Trent Newby paced the Muskies with four shots.

Senior Eric Riley played all 90 minutes in goal and made nine saves and allowed two goals.

Stamper made two saves and allowed one goal to earn the victory.

Muskingum next plays at Mount Union on Wednesday, October 22. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
