Men's Soccer slips in rain-drenched battle

The Muskingum men's soccer team lost on a rainy night in McConagha Stadium against rival Marietta on Tuesday evening, 2-0.

The Pioneers' Luke Saunders scored the game-winning goal in the 42nd minute off a long free kick from Robert Felton.

Marietta (5-7, 3-1) completed the scoring in the 75th minute on Taylor Reasoner's goal off of Wesley Riley's long throw in.

Marietta ended the outing with a 20-8 advantage in shots and 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

Junior Brett Hanna, sophomore Nick Koch and freshman Trent Newby led the Muskingum attack with two shots each.

Senior Eric Riley played all 90 minutes in frame and made four saves and allowed two goals.

Sebastian Parra made three saves in frame to record the shutout for the Pioneers.

Reasoner led Marietta with five shots, while Riley and Todd Sabol each added four strikes.

Muskingum (4-10, 0-4) plays next at Otterbein on Saturday, October 18. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
